Roles We'll Never Play - Audition Information
This exciting new show is an opportunity to push boundaries and break all the traditional casting molds. We're creating a space to rip up the rule book and perform songs we’d never normally get to sing—whether it's because of age, gender, or the fact that the rights for certain shows are never available!
For this production, we want you to help shape the show! The cast will have a say in what goes into the performance, and your audition is your chance to showcase your unique talents.
Audition Requirements:
You are invited to audition with a song of your choice. But here's the twist — it has to be a song you'd never normally get to perform. This could mean choosing a song from a character of a different age or gender or from a role you’d never typically be cast in.
If you decide to sing a song of your choosing, you will need to provide your own backing track for the audition. There will be a Bluetooth speaker available at the audition for you to connect to and play your track from your device. You should be familiar with the whole song you are auditioning with, but the creative team may not hear the full track.
If you’re unsure what to audition with, the creative team has compiled a suggested list of songs that you can choose from. Backing tracks for these songs are provided below, some in the original key and some with an alternative key that may be more suitable.
Suggested Audition Song Selection:
-
The Worst Pies in London from Sweeney Todd
-
She Used To Be Mine from Waitress
-
Climb Ev'ry Mountain from The Sound of Music
-
Anthem from Chess
-
Superstar from Jesus Christ Superstar
-
Santa Fe from Newsies
-
When I Grow Up from Matilda
-
Tomorrow from Annie
